This autumn may be gearing up to be one of the longest ever, as that final Game of Thrones season reminds us each week, winter (really) is coming, but that’s certainly no reason you can’t be kept warm by the glow of the Biscuit Factory.
The contemporary art gallery in Newcastle is set to launch its autumn exhibition and it’s one of the most highly-anticipated, with still life painter Raquel Alvarez Sardina headlining – an exciting collection of her work will show the Spanish artists’ raw talent.
With an MA in Fine Arts from Cardiff University and having been elected a full member of the Society of Women Artists in 2016, Ms Sardina is just the tip of the iceberg with a showcase that includes contemporary, craft and design work from more than 200 artists.
Hoping to inspire and enable audiences to engage in their own projects, as well as taking inspiration from what they absorb, The Biscuit Factory offers a unique chance to bring these talented artists’ creations to the people of the region.
Housed in a former Victorian warehouse, there is always something new to see every time you visit: The Biscuit Factory is the UK’s largest independent art, craft and design gallery and its Newcastle location makes it a jewel in the crown of the North East.
You can find the Gallery’s in-house café on the first floor (though no puns about their serving of biscuits) and the opening hours are from 10:00am – 5:00pm seven days a week.
For those with slightly deeper pockets, however, a majority of the exhibitions will also be listed for sale, with the chance to bring a favored piece of work home a very tempting offer.
