Bristol-born critically-acclaimed comedian, George Rigden, brings his hilarious show to Darlington this month with host Andy Fury thanks to Hilarity Bites Comedy Club.
Despite only entering the world of comedy gigs in 2013, Rigden has performed alongside memorable names including Russell Howard, Stephen Merchant and Joe Wilkinson and is also known for being resident MC for legendary Bristol night, OPPO (founded by Mark Oliver).
In the space of five years, the comic has received high praise including recently being nominated as ‘Leicester’s Mercury Comedian of the Year’ in 2017 and in 2015 he made his Edinburgh debut after winning a place in Bound and Gagged comedy’s prestigious showcase, ‘AAA’, at The Pleasance in Edinburgh. The comic, known for his dark musical comedy, also earned great acclaim for his set at Leicester Comedy Festival Gala Preview show in 2016.
The event will be hosted by Hilarity Bites New Act of the year in 2010, Andy Fury. The Newcastle born comedian has also worked alongside big names including Sarah Millican, John Bishop and Jason Manford.
Fury, who only entered the world of comedy due to ‘sheer boredom’, has a Sunday night podcast called ‘Hilarity Bites: The Week’ on Star Radio and from 2012-2014 he also produced a 42 episode podcast with Steffen Peddie called ‘That Wine Show.’
He has also written a book entitled ‘My Cup Upset’ with the idea coming from a trip to a Hebburn Town FC game. Following the FA Cup from start to finish, his book also brought about an effortlessly hilarious tour for the comic.
George Rigden will perform at Hole in the Wall, Darlington on Monday 9th April with host Andy Fury. Tickets, priced at £3.00 in advance, are available from hilaritybites.co.uk. The show begins at 7:30pm.
