The summer of 2018 has held host to a plethora of things (endless days of sun and England reaching the World Cup semi-finals, for example). However, one spectacle has yet to happen and that’s comedy promoters, Hilarity Bites’ New Act of the Year Final – and it’s fast approaching.
Who will follow in the footsteps of Sam Fore, Andrew Ryan, Andy Fury, Matt Winning, David Stanier, Freddy Quinne, Jack Gleadow, Rob Mulholland, Katie Pritchard and Simon Lomas to be the winner of this acclaimed competition?
Currently, there are six acts competing for this highly-esteemed title, with four being the heat winners of previous trials, and two being the wildcard picks by the competition judge. The acts still in the running are: Good Kids (Heat 1), Matt Duwell (Heat 2), Charlie Hopkinson (Heat 3), Sian Davies (Heat 4), Anna Thomas and Sarah Keegan (judge’s 2 wildcards).

This incredible battle of laughter will be hosted by Andy Fury and will also feature a headlining set from Simon Lomas – the winner of Hilarity Bites’ New Act of the Year 2017.
Simon, despite only starting stand-up in September 2015, is already regarded as one of the most refreshing and exciting new acts on the comedy circuit. After winning the title last year, he performed within the showings of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – which just goes to show what can be gained from winning this accolade.
The final will be hosted at the Hole in the Wall in Darlington on Monday 6th August. Tickets, priced at £5.00, are available from hilaritybites.co.uk.
