Scottish comedian of the Year (2013) and Live at the Apollo panellist, Larry Dean, will bring his hilarious material to Newcastle this month in what’s a show not to be missed by comedy fans from the North East.
The comic first made his mark in comedy with his debut in 2008 and has earned many awards including winning the ‘Amused Moose Comedy Award’ in 2016 at the Edinburgh Festival as selected by the Comedy Industry Panel – this was after his 2016 show, ‘Farcissist.’ The award-winning show discussed modern topics including Dean’s life after opening up about his sexuality, his long-term relationship and the current dating scene.
His first show, ‘Out Now’, again gave an open and detailed description into the comic’s life, discussing his encounter of coming out to his strict Catholic parents.
‘Fandan’ (2017) showed the comic’s diverse range of talent in writing, instead discussing a story based loosely on sitting in a café with two murderers – this show became among 10 of the best Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows reviewed in 2017.
“A show not to be missed by comedy fans from the North East”
Since 2015, when he was shortlisted for ‘Best Newcomer Award’ at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, Dean’s ability to cover sexuality, Scottish themes and working-class identities has not gone unnoticed.
He also won ‘Bath Comedy Festival’s New Act of the Year’ and has appeared on many shows including ‘Comedy Up Late’, ‘Live from the BBC’ and ‘Live at the Apollo’ with Gary Delaney (2017) – he has also appeared on this year’s Comedy Central UK’s ‘Roast Battle’ against Sofie Hagen.
Larry Dean will appear at The Stand in Newcastle on Sunday 8th July with his brand new show, ‘Work in Progress.’ Tickets are priced at £5.00 in advance from thestand.co.uk where you can find out more about what’s coming up at The Stand this month. Doors open at 18:00.
