Geordie-born comedian and weekly Chronicle newspaper columnist, Mike Milligan, brings his hilarious tour to Hartlepool’s The Pot House this month.
The teacher and resident host at Newcastle’s Hyena Comedy Café has toured both nationally and internationally and promises to convey his talents in this tour too.
The local comedian is best known for providing the voice for Sid The Sexist in the animated video of Viz Comics – this famous Tyneside production was performed live by Milligan and the cast at Newcastle’s City Hall.
Milligan is a regular on the Jongleurs and Highlight circuits where he often features as a compere. He also frequently works as an after-dinner speaker at sports dinners with legends such as Micky Quinn, Norman Whiteside, Duncan McKenzie and Dave Watson. He has also refereed a celebrity charity match between world snooker champions John Higgins and Graeme Dott.
The comic has leant his writing and acting skills to numerous TV and radio shows that are largely famous in his hometown including ‘Spender’, ‘Byker Grove’ and several Catherine Cookson dramas. He has also compered at the legendary Comedy Store and Comedy Clubs, entertaining hundreds with his memorable routines.
The multi-talented comedian also works regularly on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Afternoon Shift’ and ‘Weekending’, ‘The Patrick Kielty Show’, ‘Danni’s Dares’ on Channel 4 and ‘Running Jokes’ for Yorkshire TV.
Thankfully, Milligan gave up careers in being a toilet roll rep, shop assistant and trainee army officer to become a successful well-known comedian. He has, however, described his greatest career highlight as being in the ESPN Cable Channels promotion film for Newcastle United’s opening 11/12 game against Aston Villa.
Mike Milligan will perform at The Pot House in Hartlepool on Thursday 15th March with tickets, priced at £3.30 in advance, available at seetickets.com.
