Acclaimed by Time-Out as a ‘born clown’, Rob Rouse and his ‘nonchalant’ pal James Meehan are set to perform at The Venue, Northallerton on Thursday 5th October in an event hosted by Lancashire comedy prince, Freddie Quinne.
Rob Rouse rose to prominence after winning the prestigious Channel 4 ‘So You Think You’re Funny?’ competition at Edinburgh Fringe Fest back in 1998 and has since become a quirky stable on the British comedy circuit. He’s performed on highly-rated comedy programmes including ‘8 Out Of Ten Cats’, ‘Celebrity Juice’, ‘Dave’s One Night Stand and ‘Live at the Comedy Store’, and is currently starring in BBC’s ‘Upstart Crow’ as Bottom, the kooky manservant of Shakespeare.
In this show, he’ll surely aim to embark with you on a hilarious journey of forced introspection, awkward situations and a mockery of his own unsexiness. The Herald has declared him ‘Belly laugh funny’, a fond phrase that will undoubtedly ring true in this upcoming comedy stint.
In contrast, James Meehan has only been a regular on the comedy circuit since 2009, finding recognition as runner-up in Preston Comedian of the Year, then co-writing Edinburgh Fringe show ‘Unplanned Orphan’ and starring in ‘Funz and Gamez’ – a spectacularly inappropriate children’s show/ cult hit.
His unique material sets him apart as a stand-up, displayed in his part of multi-award winning sketch group ‘Gein’s Family Giftshop’ – an absurdist take on comedic tragedy.
His experimental format will woo over audiences at this show, and after the hilarity of Rob Rouse, and a fresh new act in the middle, Meehan will be a tremendous show-closer to what is set to be a ‘rousing’ comedy show.
Tickets, priced at £6.60, are available from hilaritybites.co.uk where you can also find out more about the promoters’ other upcoming events.
