Bishop Auckland’s illustrious Town Hall is to play host to the coveted Hilarity Bites Comedy Club this month as comics Tom Houghton, Jenny Collier and host Sam Avery take centre stage for a night of belly-aching comedy in the heart of the historic market town.
A rising star in the eyes of many, Jenny Collier is clearly on her way to fame. Already amassing an array of comedy awards, from the Laughing Horse New Act to the Hobgoblin Comedy Award, she’s made them all her own. 2016 marked her debut show ‘Jen Hur’ at the Edinburgh Fringe and earned her a tally of rave reviews.
Described by The Daily Telegraph as an: “unexpected tour de force that warrants a 21-gun salute”, London-based comedian Tom Houghton is no stranger to critical praise. Son of Sir Nicholas Houghton, former Chief of the Defence Staff of the Armed Forces, Tom plays his posh boy persona all too well as he proclaims: “A lot of my material isn’t very relatable”.
Hosting the night’s proceedings is the frankly hilarious Liverpudlian comic Sam Avery who is known for his quick wit and ability to turn the harshest of crowds into the gentlest.
Tom Houghton, Jenny Collier and host Sam Avery head to Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Friday 16th November. Tickets, priced at £8.00 in advance are available to purchase in person from Bishop Auckland Town Hall or by calling the venue’s Box Office on 03000 269 524.
