Having made their UK debut in London in January this year, Cirque du Soleil will bring forth an excitingly refreshing theatrical display with OVO to Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena this month.
OVO’s cast is made up of 50 performers from 17 countries specialised in the acrobatic arts and includes Alanna Baker from the UK who will be playing the role of the Black Spider in the show. Alanna was crowned a European Champion in gymnastics back in 2011 and won Bronze in the 2012 World Championships.
Translated to mean “egg” in Portuguese, OVO is a rush into a colourful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement. When a mysterious egg appears within their domain, awestruck and curiosity fills this environment. This is soon followed by love at first sight when a quirky insect arrives into the bustling community and a fabulous ladybug catches his eye – and the feeling is mutual.
This celebration of nature and co-existence will, without a doubt, bring in members of the public from all backgrounds to come and witness a great phenomenon that has captivated the world since Cirque Du Soleil’s founding some thirty-four years ago.
Cirque du Soleil OVO will be hosted at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena from Wednesday 29th August to Sunday 2nd September. Tickets, priced at £46.30, can be purchased at metroradioarena.co.uk where you can also find out further information about the event including performance times.
