Celebrating its inaugural year, Gateshead Open Studios presents a rare glimpse into the workspaces of Gateshead’s creative talent as five studios across Gateshead ( Brighton Road Studios, Bensham Grove , New Bridge Project: Gateshead , St Chad’s Church and St Cuthbert’s Church ) open their doors.
Offering an inspiring day out for the whole family, visitors are invited to watch the practitioners at work, ask questions and learn about new methods and artistic processes.
Speaking of this month’s event, Artist William Fawkes of Brighton Road Studios stated: “This event is a brilliant way for people to buy art and design items at a more affordable price as they’re buying directly from the artist. We want to see a thriving creative economy in Gateshead and we hope that this event will play a part in contributing to this.”
Showcasing a wide variety of work from fine and applied art – including painting, photography, drawing and textiles, to conceptual, contemporary practice – Gateshead Open Studios offers something for everyone.
Gateshead Open Studios launches for its inaugural year on Saturday 27th October. Members of the public of all ages are invited to visit artists, designers and makers at work in their creative studios and projects across the five venues in Gateshead between 10:00 and 17:00.
Entry to all venues is free of charge.
