Mark Radcliffe – the multi Sony Award winning broadcaster and musician – is hosting his live event ‘Mark Radcliffe: Should You be Interested’ at the Sage, Gateshead on Tuesday 5th September and it promises to be an interesting look into the life and exploits of a self-appointed friend to the stars.
Radcliffe has enjoyed a long and successful career in radio, television and even a few stints as a musician himself. His most successful stint at being a musician was in the commercially successful parody band, Shirehorses but he can even claim a brief membership in the band Skrewdriver (before they became the most notorious white power band in the world).
These days, Mark enjoys the folky sounds of his band The Family Mahone and his charming pirate themed outfit Galleon Blast. While it’s not confirmed that Mark will be performing with his bands, I wouldn’t be surprised if he whips out his guitar at some point during the show.
With the majority of his career taking place over the airwaves, Mark Radcliffe is best known for his work with the BBC and his show ‘Mark and Lard’ with fellow DJ, Mar Riley. Their eclectic playlists and ambitious feature ideas won them an afternoon slot on Radio 1 and even got them a few Sony awards for ‘The Best Daily Show’.
I would recommend this event to anyone who is reading who wants to start a career in media or is interested in the inner working of the industry. By attending the event you will learn a lot from a man who has been there and done that whilst having a couple of laughs along the way.
Mark Radcliffe will be at the Sage, Gateshead on Thursday 5th September. Tickets, priced at £18.00, are available from sagegateshead.com.
