GemArts’ annual Masala Festival returns to the region once again this month for a nine-day celebration embracing a blend of the finest South Asian arts and culture, spread across venues and spaces across the North East.
After winning the Arts Council Award in Journal Culture Awards 2017, GemArts’ Masala Festival has received yet another well-deserved nomination, this year in the category of ‘Best Event Tyneside’.
The culmination of Masala Festival 2018 is once again delivered by an outdoor spectacular in Live Garden. Delve into an enthralling mix of South Asian flavours for all the family. From interactive storytelling and lively performances to vibrant arts, crafts and dhol drumming, there is something for everyone to participate in. Dance to the Bollywood and Bhangra beat, create a beautiful silk painting, or get intricate henna designs, as well as lots of other fun activities. Entry to this event is free to the general public so be sure to drop by and indulge in a rather generous selection of South Asian activities from 11:00 on Sunday 22nd July.
