Have you ever told a lie? Of course, you have. I have and I would hazard a guess that lying is an integral part of modern society, rather unfortunately. Make believe tales and little white lies make us who we are: be that somebody who simply never tells the truth or somebody who has to lie in order to protect the person they love and care about the most.
Spoken word artist, Francesca Beard, will elaborate on this theme in a show that will not only put my little explanation to shame but will take this social oddity and turn into an intriguing, fun and thought-provoking night of spoken word entertainment.
“Can we survive in a world that is essentially post-truth?”
Francesca Beard is one of Britain’s best-loved spoken word artists; her works including ‘Chinese Whispers’ and ‘Animal Olympics’ have paved her way as a favourite among many poetry aficionados. Beard will now take to the stage with her latest exploration into the fallacies and quirks that come with being a human being. Can we survive in a world that is essentially post-truth? Where fake news and a prevalence of people like Donald Trump have the edge over actual experts.
Like a number of the shows at ARC in Stockton, ‘How to Survive…’ is outlined as a Pay What You Decide show. This a great system and by doing this, ARC has been able to take a punt on smaller and riskier ideas that might not see the light of day in an otherwise financially-burdened arts industry.
‘How to Survive a Post-Truth Apocalypse’ by Francesca Beard will take place at ARC in Stockton on Wednesday 6th June. For more information, please visit arconline.co.uk.
