Holly Gallagher is an emerging theatre-maker who is based in the Tees Valley and she is bringing her latest show, ‘Tensile Strength’, to ARC in Stockton this month.
This Thornaby native’s show tells the stories of He, She and They, three people living in the same post-industrial northern town. It charts their journeys through everyday life as they attempt to deal with the fear, pressure and uncertainty of day to day living. In a world where many people are overcome with stress, ‘Tensile Strength’ explores the best ways to cope in a world where stress is managed, rather than cured.
Holly is one of the most exciting theatre-makers in the North East and her previous show was met with rave reviews throughout the country. Just a few years after graduating from the MA Theatre programme at Northumbria University, she has also taken part in the Third Angel Mentorship scheme.
One of the most beautiful aspects of Holly’s work is that it remains intimately interwoven with her heritage. And her performance at ARC in Stockton promises to be electric as it was there that she first fell in love with theatre after taking part in a children’s theatre group for over seven years.
Holly is fast becoming a strong, unique female voice for millennials and her work speaks to those whose dreams seem stunted by their circumstances.
‘Tensile Strength’ runs at ARC, Stockton on Wednesday 7th November. Tickets are priced on a pay what you decided basis, however, you must book your ticket in advance as normal at arconline.co.uk.
