In Thunder Road, two women living in an ordinary British town leave their ordinary lives behind when they pack a car with First Aid Training Course materials.
Maureen and Sylvie discover the power of the Heimlich manoeuvre, adventure and escape, the death of the Little Chef, the call of the open road, and the kind of friendship you’d take a bullet for.
Expecting the trip to last just a couple of days – then they’ll both be home and everything will go back to normal – things takes an unexpected turn in a Travelodge and events spin out of control.
Taking its inspirations from the quintessentially British First Aid training course and the iconic feminist road movie ‘Thelma and Louise’, Thunder Road tells a story like you’ve never seen before – it’s a story that will ring true in your heart and make you laugh till you cry.
This bold, original and dark comedy by Redcape Theatre promises to an excellent piece of stand-up theatre.
Performers Catherine and Cassie have even been lauded by critic, Lyn Gardner, so we know we’ll be in strong hands.
Red Cape were last seen in the region on tour with ‘Be Brave and Leave for the Unknown’, which was a smash with audiences from Saltburn to Alnwick.
As with all of ARC Stockton’s theatre programme, this piece is Pay What You Decide.
