With a raft of positive reviews to its name, theatre maker Olly Hawes brings ‘The Absolute Truth About Absolutely Everything’ to ARC, Stockton on Wednesday 7th February.
Written and performed by Olly Hawes, ‘The Absolute Truth About Absolutely Everything’ features a completely unprepared guest female performer each night.
Taking aim at contemporary culture, capitalism, and patriarchy in a black comedy that is, in essence, about a crisis of masculinity.
The female performer will become increasingly unsure of what she is complying with as fiction and reality blur and he desperately tries to confront his malign influence on the world.
A genre-bending performance that comprises beautifully crafted and experimental storytelling that utilises the unpredictable nature of live performance and is a challenging but humane portrait of the consequences of patriarchy that is humorous, unsettling, and always on the edge of anarchy.
Olly Hawes makes performance that combines storytelling, theatre and live art. His shows have been performed at venues across Britain, and he has worked with The National, The Young Vic, and was a Creative Associate at The Bush. He is co-artistic director of community storytelling company take stock exchange and was selected as a Clore Emerging Cultural Leader in 2016.
The performance is part of ARC’s innovative Pay What You Decide scheme which has just completed its third successful year since being introduced in January 2015.
