A Teesside couples’ vision for a new resource for musicians in Stockton and the surrounding area takes shape with the opening of Connie’s Music Box in just a few weeks’ time.
Set up by Jake & Kayleigh Hope, the couple are experienced musicians, with Jake performing as a solo artist and Kayleigh also working alongside Jake as duo Two Hearts.
Connie’s Music Box is named after the couples’ daughter who sadly passed away a few years ago; it is hoped that through the establishment of this enterprise Connie’s spirit will live on and provide inspiration for many people.
Connie’s Music Box will open initially with one rehearsal space and equipment available for hire at very reasonable rates. Jake & Kayleigh, in their own words, stated that they: “hope to expand facilities in the future to include a recording studio and more rehearsal space”.
Located in the centre of Stockton on Skinner Street, just a stone’s throw from ARC, the new venture is ideally located for the regular band practices of local acts and performers visiting the town.
“It is hoped that through the establishment of this enterprise Connie’s spirit will live on and provide inspiration for many people”
Speaking to Jake, you can tell the enthusiasm he has for music in general – and of course this business. It is this combination of experience, skill and energy that I am sure will make Connie’s Music Box a success. Jake and Kayleigh make a great and inspirational team in life, and it stands to reason that this will be reflected in their business venture.
In the near future, Jake mentioned that: “There will be a Rock School established at Connie’s Music Box, introducing kids and teens to the enormous fun of learning an instrument and being part of an amazing band!”
Since the 2003 Jack Black film, ‘School of Rock’ – and the incredibly successful stage show of the same name – there has been a real upsurge of engagement in music through rock schools; it’s projects like this that will no doubt produce the next Lady Gaga or Dave Grohl.
Jake will also be providing his expertise as a guitar tutor and offering a guitar re-stringing service to boot at Connie’s Music Box.
The music scene in Stockton is positively buzzing with energy, and Connie’s will be an essential addition to the facilities available to musicians in the area.
With everything that’s going on in Stockton right now, I’m sure there will be loads of budding musicians and established bands making a beeline for Connie’s Music Box.
