Jaws head to Riverside, Newcastle this month so Nathan Douthwaite spoke to Connor Schofield about his clothing band, tweeting Isaac Wright, and supporting The Twang.
You’ve played in the North East a number of times now, so what do you like about playing Newcastle?
I love coming back to Newcastle. It sounds a little bit cliché, but the crowd is always really up for it and there’s always a good energy in the city too.
‘Simplicity’ has been out for nearly a year now, so how do you think the release has been received?
The live shows are generally a lot more energetic now so I think it’s been received pretty well, which is nice, because we put a lot of work into that album so it’s really cool to see that kind of reaction.
You’re heading back out on the road. Is there anything you take with you to relax or as a personal comfort?
As long as I have my headphones I know I can escape the madness at any second.
You tweeted Isaac Wright about his plans for December 1st. Have you heard anything back from him yet?
No, we got blanked. I’ll still put him on the guestlist though, just in case.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for the rest of 2017?
Just this tour and we’re also playing a few shows with The Twang in December, which will be exciting.
I know you have your own clothing brand, so does that influence Jaws’ merchandise?
It actually doesn’t as I really try to keep the two completely separate. We generally have a good idea of what’s going to look good or bad with Jaws merch without trying to push it in any particular direction.
Finally, do you have anything to say to the people coming to your Newcastle gig?
I’ll see you there – I can’t wait!
