With five albums to their name and a UK following that goes wild for them every time they tour, it’s just been announced that US alt-rock legends We Are Scientists will headline the Ku stage on Saturday 31st March.
We Are Scientists are a band that have sold hundreds of thousands of records in the UK alone, have an immense stage presence, and have appeared at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Jools Holland, Coachella and many more. A band that inspires devotion in its army of fans and converts more each time they play, We Are Scientists are an incredible addition to Teesside’s best multi-venue music festival.
Jimmy Beck, co-organiser of the festival, said: “We Are Scientists are a massive name to add to the festival’s line-up and we can’t wait to see them headline Ku.
“They’re a band that’s a firm favourite in Stockton and another name that will, after announcing Lightning Seeds last week, see ticket sales fly out even more. It’s going to be great seeing them here on Teesside again.”
Headlining The Green Room stage (programmed by NARC Magazine) are Billingham’s lo-fi duo Mouses, whose perfect blend of garage riffs, poppy vocals and visceral drums has won them fans across the region, the country and overseas.
NARC writer Steve Spithray described their debut album as having: “the primal urgency of Goo-era Sonic Youth matched with a terrific underlying darkness that’s like a teen horror movie trying to break out”. Expect an epic live show that’s just perfect to see the night out with a bang!
Claire Dupree, editor of NARC, said: “Stockton Calling is our favourite festival of the year. Who could resist a multi-venue all-dayer crammed to bursting with over 70 eclectic bands from across the UK (and often beyond), all located in some of the best venues the region has to offer?
“Given that it’s a sell-out event every year, it’s clear Stockton Calling is a favourite of many local music fans too, and we’re extremely proud to be hosting our usual stage at The Green Room at this year’s festival on Saturday 31st March.”
Stockton Calling has now also confirmed that the following venues are taking part in this year’s event: ARC, The Georgian Theatre, Ku, The Storytellers, The Green Room, Room 21, Musiclounge, Whole Latte Love, and The Vault, with pop-up stages to be confirmed at a later date.
Stockton Calling is one of the North East’s premier metropolitan music festivals and will return for its ninth edition on Saturday 31st March.
Stockton Calling has made a name for itself over the years by bringing some of the country’s most established names, the brightest national rising stars and the best regional acts together for an amazing day of live music.
Advance tickets cost £22.00 and are on sale now.
