The first headline act to be announced for Stockton Calling 2018 is Liverpool’s legendary Lightning Seeds who will headline ARC’s stage.
Coming to prominence in the 1990s, Ian Broudie’s Lightning Seeds have made an astonishing impact on the nation’s musical consciousness. From the unforgettable ‘Three Lions’ featuring Baddiel & Skinner to the earworm of ‘Lucky You’, the iconic ‘Life of Riley’ to the instantly recognisable ‘Change’, Lightning Seeds have songs that soundtracked the Britpop generation and continue to make an impact today.
Jimmy Beck, co-organiser of the festival said: “We’re absolutely delighted we have secured Lightning Seeds for Stockton Calling. They’re one of our biggest headliners to date and bona fide indie legends. They have a ton of hits to play for us and it’s going to be very special.”
Paul Burns, also organising, continued: “Now that Christmas and New Year are behind us – and Easter eggs are appearing in the shops – it’s only right that we remind our loyal Stockton Calling audience of how tickets always get snapped up well in advance of the day.
The festival has sold out for the last seven years in a row and we expect it to sell out again. Lightning Seeds are a bold statement on the quality of this year’s line-up, so our advice at this stage is to buy your tickets early!”
More acts will be announced shortly and full lineups for each venue will be announced over the coming weeks.
Stockton Calling is one of the North East’s premier metropolitan music festivals and will return for its ninth edition on Saturday 31st March 2018.
Stockton Calling has made a name for itself over the years by bringing some of the country’s most established names, the brightest national rising stars and the best regional acts together for an amazing day of live music.
Venues confirmed so far are ARC, Storytellers, Ku, The Georgian Theatre, and The Green Room with more to be added, along with an ever-increasing number of pop-up stages in the many micro-pubs and bars in the town.
