Manchester’s renowned maraca-shaking party animal, Bez, is heading to Teesside this September for a night of classic Madchester carnage!
Longlands Club, in association with NE Volume Magazine, will play host to the legendary Happy Mondays dancer as he takes to the turntables to spin some classic indie tunes from the city that birthed Oasis, The Smiths, The Stone Roses and, of course, The Happy Mondays – to name but a few.
Bez won’t be going it alone behind the decks either as he’s bringing along his son Arlo for the madness; Arlo will be pumping some of the best Hacienda and Madchester classics through the speakers to really get the party started, taking Middlesbrough back to 1980s Manchester for one night only.
It goes without saying that Bez will be the lead orchestrator of the party. With a mic in one hand and a maraca in the other, the iconic Mancunian will be making sure the Longlands Club goes well and truly mad for it – dya know what I mean?
In an open interview (see above), Bez revealed how he first ended up on stage with his soon to be legendary pair of maracas. He said: “I wasn’t really supposed to go on stage, but due to ‘psychedelic’ reasons Shaun couldn’t make it onto the stage alone, so I dived on stage with him and the maracas were just the only things available at the time to grab hold of – so it was just purely coincidence.” And what a happy coincidence it turned out to be.
Support for the nights comes from The Baggy Mondays, a band that doesn’t restrict itself to a single band but encompasses an entire era. They’ll be playing the best tunes from the Madchester and Britpop days to worm up your cockles.
So, on Friday 21st September step on into the Longlands Club’s wonderwalls for a night that will open your eyes and move your feet with a true Madchester icon!
Tickets, priced at £10.00 in advance, are available from the venue, by calling 01642 272006, or by heading to skiddle.com. Tickets on the door, if any remain, will be available for £13.00.
