The mighty Dragonforce will be storming Riverside, Newcastle on Thursday 5th October as part of their ‘Reaching Infinity’ world tour.
The epic six-piece is known for their furiously fast guitar solos and war-fantasy themed lyrics. Many will remember the band rising to prominence with their power metal anthem, ‘Through the Fire and Flames’ – one of their most popular tracks that was featured on the successful ‘Guitar Hero’ game series. It’s a song which has since become a somewhat pop-culture legend amongst the guitar community due to its insane difficulty and fast guitar licks.
In terms of their new tour, it comes after the long-awaited release of the British bands’ latest studio album, ‘Reaching Infinity’ – an 11-track epic that was recorded in multiple locations worldwide, ranging from studios in London to Sweden.
The new album is noted as being a little different from their older stuff; they’ve taken a step away from the usual power metal vibe and are now opting for a more traditional heavy metal sound argued to be influenced by bassist Frédéric Leclercq’s extreme metal side project, Sinsaenum.
This tour marks Dragonforce’s first official UK tour since 2014, in which they toured the country off the back of their ‘Maximum Overload’ album, with a North East date at The Empire in Middlesbrough.
They’ve since toured worldwide, including dates in Tokyo and New York, reaching high levels of musical success across the world.
Their live shows are often regarded as ‘insane’ by critics, with lots of great showmanship throughout.
Dragonforce plays Riverside, Newcastle on Thursday 5th October. Tickets, priced at £17.00, are available from riversidenewcastle.co.uk. This is a 14+ show.
