As a young and reckless teenager during my days as a university student down in York, I first encountered Glass Caves fully kitted out playing a street gig and immediately thought: “These boys will go far”. Constantly drawing in steady crowds of music-loving folks, they were there, in the centre of York, most weekends, giving it their all come rain or shine.
Cut to 2018, and the boys with the big hair are embarking on their headline tour of the UK which includes a night at Newcastle’s Think Tank? – the perfect venue for a band rapidly climbing that musical ladder. They describe themselves as “Four hairy lads from Yorkshire making exceptional music” and they aren’t wrong.
A trip over to Spotify would reveal to anyone who is yet to discover the band an impressive bank of tracks from throughout their career so far including 2014 album ‘Alive’ and also 2018 EP ‘I Do’ which includes the tracks ‘Bad Liar’ and the title track, ‘I Do’. Just a hop, skip and a jump away and you will also find Glass Caves on YouTube with a plethora of videos including official videos for some of their most popular tracks.
The Yorkshire boys are in the region on Friday 20th April to wrap up their UK headline tour – clearly saving the best for last – so don’t hold anything back and give them the northern welcome they deserve at the end of what will be an outstanding tour. For those of you who also witnessed them at our NE Volume Magazine Live gig at ARC in Stockton last summer, you’ll know that this is a band certainly worth witnessing live.
Tickets, priced at £8.00 (plus booking fee), are available from thinktanknewcastle.ticketline.co.uk.
