Music fans of the North East will be subjected to the seductive sounds that Welsh indie and garage rock band Himalayas will be producing during their invasion of Stockton’s famed Ku Bar.
The band is comprised of members Joe Williams (guitar + vocals), Mike Griffiths (lead guitar + vocals), Lous Heaps (bass) and James Goulbourn (drums) and had their beginnings during the middle of 2015. After having cemented their reputation in the South Wales music scene, they found themselves embarking on a six-day tour across Cardiff, Bristol, London, Brighton, Manchester and Liverpool in December of the same year.
The stance they place on stage sees the Himalayas putting on an energetic, jaw-dropping show; their rapport and banter with the audience instil a feeling akin to knowing them for years, ultimately creating a certainty for their songs being whistled and hummed weeks after their showing.
The Himalayas’ discography begins with their debut EP, ‘Ecstasy’ which was released by Peepshow Records in August 2016 and received a positive reaction from fans and critics. Their first track ‘Cheap Thrills’ was also released as a music video and carries itself with attitude, being filled with energy and displaying brash guitar riffs throughout.
The band contains an element so tightly upheld which is best described as an adamant determination to strive forward and produce even higher quality sounds upon each successive release.
The Himalayas will be playing at Ku Bar in Stockton on Friday 29th of June, with support from guisborough-based alt-rock band Catalyse and Manchester alt-rock band The Reckid.
Tickets are priced at £5.00 in advance and can be purchased from Sound It Out Records and The Storytellers in Stockton as well as online at seetickets.com.
