Northern star Laura Silverstone is heading to Newcastle’s Bar Loco this month as part of her hugely successful 2018 tour celebrating her debut studio album, ‘The Fall of the Northern Star’, released in mid-September of 2017.
Now based in Edinburgh, Laura Silverstone was born in the Spanish city of Bilbao and despite being only 22, has written and composed her own music since the tender age of just 13. In her ongoing quest to promote her music, Silverstone has restlessly traversed across Europe, performing and busking in the streets since the age of 17.
Over the years, Silverstone has developed her own distinct sound through her experimentation with styles from folk and rock to avant-garde and classical. Citing her influences as David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen and Van Morrison, the songsmith carefully blends inspired textures from each to create an astonishingly unique composition of experimental folk drenched in space-rock virtuosity.
It would be unjust not to draw particular attention to Silverstone’s potently soulful voice, with the amalgamation of her cosmic-inspired lyrics and her profound vocal ability complementing her compositions with a certain transcendence that makes her performances hard to turn away from.
Although one of the youngest new talents to emerge on the UK music scene, Silverstone is also one of the most exciting. Her landing in the North East this month is a must-see performance and is guaranteed to treat fans at Bar Loco to a night of soulful folk to savour.
Laura Silverstone plays Bar Loco, Newcastle on Saturday 14th April. Entry to the performance, due to begin at 7:30pm, is completely free! For more information regarding the gig and Laura be sure to head to barloconewcastle.com.
