Internationally famed guitarist and singer-songwriter, Ryan McGarvey, is returning to the Sage, Gateshead this month for what’s certain to be an incredibly intimate evening of blues rock.
Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, the 30-year-old is returning to the same stage in the North East for the third time after labelling the Sage as an ‘incredible place’ back in 2016.
McGarvey’s shows are always highly anticipated after establishing himself as a leading musician in a relatively short amount of time. After winning multiple awards over the past decade, he most recently received the prestigious European Blues Awards Best Guitarist in 2014 & 2016 and Best Acoustic Guitarist in 2017.
His first album ‘Forward In Reverse’ was released by an independent record label of the same name in 2007, then followed ‘Redefined’ (2012), ‘The Road Chosen’ (2014), and the latest live album ‘Live At Swinghouse’ (2018). This October show is sure to be an explosive celebration of all of his releases so far.
McGarvey has gained extensive acclaim following high praise from his own personal idols including admiration from Joe Bonamassa for his ‘hard work and skill’ alongside being selected by Eric Clapton to play Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago in 2010 out of over 4000 artists worldwide.
With an impressive set of accolades, fierce guitar playing, strong vocals and an unstoppable work ethic, McGarvey has already been labelled one of the best in the business. His Sage, Gateshead date is one stop on his European tour of seven countries – so don’t miss the opportunity to witness his talent in an intimate venue in the North East while you still can.
Support on the evening comes from UK blues trio the Mitch Laddie Band who also released a brand new album ‘Another World’ earlier this year. Local guitarist, singer/songwriter and producer Mitch Laddie is from County Durham and his music is far from the blues stereotype with jazzy, funky solos that have alerted the attention of rock fans globally.
Ryan McGarvey and The Mitch Laddie Band make their way to the Sage Two in Gateshead on Saturday 27th October for a gig that North East blues fans really should get excited about.
Tickets, priced from £15.30 in advance, are available from sagegateshead.com or by calling the Sage Box Office directly on 0191 443 4666. The show starts at 20:00.
