Since they burst onto the music scene in the late 1970s, Secret Affair has been at the forefront of the mod revival movement and are bringing their definitive sound to the Longlands Club in Middlesbrough this month.
In the two years after their formation in 1978, the band released three albums and five singles with their debut track ‘Time for Action’ storming through the UK singles chart and becoming an anthem for the renascence of mod culture. Secret Affair also went on to appear multiple times on ‘Top of the Pops’ as well as on the covers of magazines like NME and Smash Hits– all in their first year, thus proving that the influence of mod-rock should never be underestimated.
Secret Affair disbanded in the early 1980s but has since reformed in 2002. Although initially only getting back together for three gigs, the band have continued to perform for over a decade now and released their fourth studio album ‘Soho Dreams’ in 2012 which was followed by a 13-date UK tour. Despite their hiatus for two decades, the band has maintained their talent for capturing the nostalgic soulful mod-rock sound of the 60s.
Support for this event comes from North East based psychedelic power pop trio The Lemontops and rock group, Dig the Old Breed.
Secret Affair will play the Longlands Club, Middlesbrough on Friday 8th September for a celebration of one of the most definitive movements in the 20th century.
The event is 18+. Tickets, priced at £17.50 in advance, can be bought from seetickets.com. Tickets on the door (if there are any left) will be priced at £20.00.
