Skinny Molly brings their extensive European and UK tour to the North East with an intimate date at Newcastle’s The Cluny on Saturday 28th October, which bandmember Jay Johnson describes as a: “premier venue in the North East.”
The Nashville rockers head to the region via Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, France and Spain and Jay Johnson is set to embark on a further run of solo shows straight after the string of full band gigs. Describing the Cluny show, Johnson says: “We’ve been looking forward to playing here for a long time and we can’t wait for the gig.”
He also claims that before the actual gig, a special acoustic gig will take place, which is not to be missed for any Skinny Molly fans in the region. Their blend of typically southern America rock and swaggering vocals combine together brilliantly to create an authentic classic rock sound with an abundance of cutting riffs and jaw-dropping solos.
Of course, this kind of excellence is only natural when Johnson (formerly of Blackfoot) and Mike Estes (formerly Lynyrd Skynyrd) come together and fuse their musical brains.
Originally formed as a band to play a one-off tour in 2004, the Tennessee band now tour relentlessly and have crossed continents more than many other bands have even toured their own country.
This intimate show is not to be missed if you’re into American rock, neatly played guitars and drink swaying good vibes. Their promise is to: “never let a single fan go home disappointed” – and that is a bold statement to make if you can’t deliver.
