Are you a fan of karaoke (good karaoke, not drunken people singing ‘Wonderwall’)? Then this may be the perfect event for you.
The Great Northern All Star Band (which includes North East music giants Field Music) is putting on an all-star karaoke night that will take you through all the best music the North has to offer with the evening simply titled ‘The Great Northern Songbook’.
The event will take place at The Sage, Gateshead and you’re invited to come down and dance along to your favourite northern tracks.
Peter and David Brewis of Field Music will be inviting guest vocalists from all corners of the north to gather and celebrate their favourite songs. But that’s not the best bit – the tracks played on the night will be entirely selected by you. The power is in your hands; whatever your taste may be, The Great Northern All Star Band wants to hear from you.
“The tracks played on the night will be entirely selected by you”
20 of the voted-for tracks will be played by Field Music and The Great Northern All Star band on the night and then Manchester-based illustrator, Stanley Chow, will create a series of artwork depicting the chosen songs in a new way, with the exhibition displayed at The Sage after the event.
The Great Northern Songbook will take place on Saturday 23rd June. Tickets, priced at £18.50 in advance, are available from sagegateshead.com.
You can vote for your favourite northern song on The Sage’s website too – so get voting before the 23rd to be in with a chance of your song being played.
This event is a very special one and has the potential to be a one off. So if you’re interested, it’s best to book soon as this event will likely sell out.
