Tyne and Wear new wave band, The Radio Set, are bringing their signature sound to Stockton’s Musiclounge this month – and it’s certainly not one to miss.
Despite having been around less than a year, The Radio Set has already started making waves with their distinctive sound. Combining a rich and diverse lineage of influences, the band create something truly unique and interesting, whilst still paying homage to their roots.
Having been compared to the likes of both Blondie and New Order, the band’s bass-led sound is full of driving beats, soaring vocals and incendiary guitar work. The Radio Set bring this sound to the stage with bombastic, high-energy live performances and are on their way to becoming one of the best acts to come out of the North East of late.
In their short career together so far, The Radio Set have already accomplished quite a bit. The band recorded their debut ‘EP#1’ at Bella Union Studios in London earlier this year after catching the ear of Simon Raymonde and have since gone on to be played numerous times on BBC Newcastle.
Though 2017 has been a great year for The Radio Set, it isn’t over yet, as in November the band’s latest single is set to be produced by none other than Joy Division and New Order legend, Peter Hook.
With such exciting prospects on the horizon, it seems certain that The Radio Set will go on to do great things.
The Radio Set play Musiclounge, Stockton on Saturday 7th October and Sunderland’s Think Tank? on Friday 3rd November. All information on the band’s upcoming gigs, events, new music and news can be found on their website at radioset.com.
