TV Smith is heading to Middlesbrough’s renowned Westgarth Social Club this month to perform to his devoted North East fans.
One of the founding members of 1976’s Adverts, a band who reached success within the early wave of British punk rock, TV Smith has a huge back catalogue of music and is certain to wow both his avid fans and those new to his music.
Smith has also had success with his project TV Smith’s Explorers who he put together straight after the breakup of the Adverts; the band had a UK hit single with ‘Tomahawk Cruise’ and released one album in 1980 before the group parted ways.
It wasn’t until the 90s that TV Smith began touring and performing as a solo artist and since then he’s brought out 16 studio albums, with his last album, titled ‘I Delete’, released in late 2014.
Support for the evening comes from Mark Ayling, a lifelong drummer who has branched into the acoustic scene and has become extremely successful at it too. He takes influence from a range of musicians and artists including the likes of Motorhead, The Clash, The Specials and Joy Division.
The second support is the North East’s very own, Charlie Thomas, an artist who has toured across the North East and beyond for over three years. Charlie plays a mixture of American rock ‘n’ roll, beat poet culture and folk and has stated that’s he’s influenced by the likes of Lou Reed, Patti Smith and The Stooges.
TV Smith heads to the Westgarth Social Club in Middlesbrough on Thursday 19th April. Tickets, priced at £8.80 (including booking fee), are available from seetickets.com. Or if you’d prefer not to pay the booking fee, you can also purchase your tickets from the venue or by calling Stephen on 07769 258035.
