Start your day right with a charming melody from Dead Blue – a new North East band that has just booted up in the area. The indie-rock three-piece band has literally just launched their debut single, ‘Tenderstem’, with the catchy track so intoxicating that you’re certain to be singing the lyrics to your loved ones, pets and even random strangers.
With deep vocals reminiscent of The Courteeners, and fun lyrics surrounding super-foods, Dead Blue has a special talent for making songs about vegetables sound so good. The opening guitar riffs scream rock ‘n’ roll, whereas the lyrics of the single chant indie pop. Whatever genre you feel this song falls under, this rockish tune will get stuck in your head – that’s for certain.
What’s poetic about Deep Blue is the fact that, in reality, a tenderstem is a type of vegetable that now pops up all the time in recipes. Although it’s new, the vegetable has captivated the market – something Dead Blue are certainly looking to do in the music scene.
I asked Deep Blue about their inspiration for the super-food centric track, with Ryan from the band noting: “When Me and Alex (the lead singer on the track) were sat in the sauna we were on a health kick and the melody came into his head. We got home, and he sang it for me and I wrote the music for it and voila!”
Well, whether you’re interested in listening to a track about a super-food or you want to hear some raw rock ‘n’ roll talent from the North East, look no further than Dead Blue’s ‘Tenderstem’.
