Newcastle’s Julie Grant has an impressive musical history with appearances on live television and radio performances in the late 1980s and early 90s commonplace for her and her band.
After a long hiatus, she and her band have been busy at work. And if you haven’t heard of her then you have been probably living off the grid as reviews noting her heavenly vocals combined with strong melodies have echoed through the area.
In Julie and her band’s new single, ‘Marry Yourself’, it has backing sounds built with the raw arrangement of simplistic guitar, bass and drums which is refreshing to hear from a pop song.
What I really respect about Julie is that I feel that this song is genuine and is not in any way over-produced. She and her band have had the confidence to keep this song simple and without any real need to add flashy production methods and I believe that this makes the song more impressive and that the message is not lost but is carried beautifully into the listener’s ears.
