Newcastle four-piece, Like a Wookie, are energetic, female-led and are bound to get you screaming with their infectious vocals. If you’re a fan of Alice In Chains and Black Sabbath, then you’ll be dying to hear the new song from this up-and-coming rock band.
The North East band has just released their latest single, ‘Submissive’. The new track follows lewd lyrics, fat guitar tones and instrumental riffs that must’ve been directly inspired by grunge icons, Nirvana. The sinister yet coy vocals blend incredibly well with each given instrument, clashing in such a powerful way it creates a sensational mood within the single, rendering the listener’s ears submissive to the song.
Like a Wookie attack you with a wealth of experience. And while you may recognise a few faces from their previous bands, Like a Wookie don’t resemble what you may have come to expect with their work in their last groups. Drawing a lot of musical influence from early 90s bands such as Helmet, Rage Against the Machine and Kyuss, Like a Wookie expertly spread melodic yet powerful vocals on top of catchy riffs and subtle grooves which make you want to hear more.
Speaking of which, if you want to catch the band then be sure to check them out on Facebook at Facebook.com/wookieband where you can also hear more about their upcoming gigs and further releases.
