They say a person who doesn't read lives one life before they die, yet those who read live thousands.
On Saturday, Stockton will host its annual book fair which is open to all. The day is set to be filled with fun things to do for all the family, including meeting your favourite characters from some of the world's best-loved books.
The events, which will be spread between Stockton High Street and the Central Library Hub, will take place between 10:00am-4:00pm and will feature some big names in the world of writing including best-selling children's author, Cathy Cassidy.
The book fair will also play host to the very first Crossing the Tees Short Story Competition. So if you're an aspiring author, creative writer or you just love writing in your spare time, now is your chance to share your story with the rest of the local community, but you must make sure the theme for your story is Crossing the Tees. Entry forms can be found on crossingthetees.org and the closing date for entries is 30th September 2017 - good luck! The winner of the competition will have their story published in an anthology and will receive a £100 cash prize. The first runner up will receive £75, and third place, a rather cozy £50.
So whether you are in it for the fun or the prize, there's something for everyone. And if you're free, why not bring your friends and family to The Stockton Book Fair. Itís a great way to promote reading and literature to people of all ages.
