Something wonderful is in store for Teesside's very own seaside capital this month as, on Friday 23rd June, the Lake Poets (fronted by Sunderland multi-instrumentalist Martin Longstaff) will be performing an intimate show at the Spa Hotel, Saltburn.
Martin will be performing with his full live five-piece band to bring true Americana style to his vocals and elevate his voice with pedal steel and drums; but itís still certain to be an emotional, though-provoking and memorable evening.
The Lake Poetsí sound has been described in popular media in hugely positive terms, such as 'spell-binding and heartbreaking', and 'quietly devastating'. Having finished a successful Germany tour in April, the Lake Poets have received over 4 million Spotify plays worldwide, as well as daytime air play on BBC Radio 2, Radio X and BBC 6 Music.
From the soothing melodies of single and radio hit 'Your Face', to the powerful choruses of soulful track 'Edinburgh', Martin and his band put on a truly magical show.
Being back in the North East, the Sunderland musician will be taking the country by storm this year. With slots booked for eight UK festivals already, including Kuchessions Festival in Hamburg and of course NE Volume Magazine Live at the ARC in Stockton in September, it looks like The Lake Poets are on track for a very strong musical career, without every forgetting their North East roots.
It's great seeing so many North East artists going international lately, such as Cattle and Cane and Mouses. People like Martin may just be the tip of the iceberg for the North East music revival.
Tickets, priced at £10.00, are available by calling the venue on 01287 622544.
