Genre: Thriller
Dangerous Lies has the feel of a movie aimed very much at the ‘teen and up’ market, although it does deliver a reasonably decent story, if a little tame.
The tale follows a young couple who are struggling financially before they are gifted an expensive house and its valuable contents in an old man’s will.
The couple then find themselves under the spotlight of the police and a mysterious villain who both seem determined to undo their good fortune.
The plot is a bit predictable and the family-friendly flavour means it lacks any real grit or darkness.
Camilla Mendes does an admirable acting job in the main role as her character begins to mistrust pretty much everybody she knows – and her dream turns into a nightmare.
Whilst never really getting the heart truly racing, this thriller does have its merits and would probably make an adequate filler for a rainy Sunday afternoon.
