On Friday 18th September, Darlington Forum will be alive with the sound of good old punk rock when legendary British outfit Newtown Neurotics make their long-awaited first appearance at the venue. Presented by Big Figure Promotions, the evening also features iconic punk poet Attila the Stockbroker and North East post-punk favourites The Inklings, making it an essential date for anyone who appreciates music with attitude.
Formed in Harlow in the late 1970s, Newtown Neurotics emerged during punk’s second wave, combining urgent guitar work with thoughtful, politically charged lyrics. While many of their contemporaries came and went, the band built a devoted following through songs that tackled social issues without losing the raw energy that made punk such a cultural force. Decades later, their music continues to resonate with audiences old and new.
Led by founder Steve Drewett, Newtown Neurotics have earned a reputation as one of Britain’s most respected live punk acts, delivering shows full of honesty, conviction and plenty of sing-a-long moments.
