Teesside’s biggest and longest-running multi-venue festival has announced its ‘Second Wave’ of artists to play across their stages on Easter Saturday (March 30th).
Hartlepool faves Venus Grrrls will be headlining the prestigious BBC Music Introducing Stage at Sticky’s, with rising Teesside rock prodigies Wingz of the Monkey opening up at The Georgian Theatre.
Dilettante return to their Teesside roots to headline the NARC Stage at The Green Room, whilst Deep Tan return to Stockton to play the Noisy Daughters Stage at The Link, following their support slot next door in The Globe with Queens of The Stone Age last November.
In total, 19 new artists have been announced, with Gone Tomorrow, Marina Josephina, Dossers, Cortney Dixon, Melanie Baker, Dayzies, Ivies and Emily Rowan flying the flag for the North East – with visitors from the national touring circuit Noisy, Tina Sandwich, G!RLBAND, Pretty Velvet, Brodie Milner, Safe At Any Speed and Wings of Desire all heading to Stockton-on-Tees for the day.
Chris Cobain, of Stockton Calling co-organiser Tees Music Alliance, is delighted with this new wave of announcements: “It’s been a busy autumn and early winter for a lot of these artists – so we’ve been holding back on quite a few announcements to let other commitments take place.
“Now we’re able to let these cats out of the Stockton Calling bag, it’s going to make for some exciting route planning for ticket holders – there’ll be something great in every venue for people to see.
Previously announced are The Enemy, Corella, The Bluetones, CVC, The Lilacs, Deadletter, All Before, DAWKS, Sarah Johnsone, Scruffy Bear, Cat Ryan, Hannah Robinson, Hector Gannet, No Teeth, TV Death, Ed Cosens, Ellur, Fashion Tips, Gemma Rodgers, Good Cop Bad Cop, Lizzie Reid, Reignmaker, Spilemann, Sun King, The Chase, The Guestlist, The Kairos and The Tubs.
Stockton Calling has taken place on Easter Saturday since 2010, making it the longest-running event of its kind in the north east – attracting around 2,000 music lovers into Stockton town centre for the day.
Last year’s event attracted a record crowd and sold out several days beforehand.
Standard tickets are now available at £40 with no additional fees. Tickets cover all venues, all day.
