Parastatic’s third album, ‘Concrete Reborn’, marks a compelling return after a decade-long hiatus.
The album draws inspiration from Brutalist architecture, weaving themes of structure and form into its seven tracks.
The band’s signature fusion of Krautrock, shoegaze, and post-rock is enriched by the addition of Newcastle-based spoken word artist, Late Girl, whose haunting and dynamic performances add depth to the compositions.
Tracks like ‘Assembly’ and ‘(Dancing To) A Modernist Beat’ showcase a harmonious blend of shimmering psychedelia and motorik rhythms, building to powerful crescendos. The nearly 10-minute title track, ‘Concrete Reborn,’ stands as an epic celebration of the balance between function and form, embodying the very essence of Brutalism.
Produced by Sam Grant of Pigs x 7 at Blank Studios in Newcastle, the album benefits from a polished yet raw sound that captures the band’s evolution. With original drummer Jonnie Halling rejoining the line-up, Parastatic deliver a cohesive and mature piece of work that resonates with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
You can listen to the album now on all major streaming platforms. The album is also available on vinyl via Workie Ticket Records.
