90’s grunge influences are abundant in Sick Joy’s most recent release, ‘Dissolve Me’. At just over two and a half minutes long, it’s a defiant pocket rocket of distorted guitars and well-crafted thrashy vocals.
The Pixies and Nirvana inspirations do come through, although Sick Joy have created a unique style that’s very much their own.
The band’s roots are in Newcastle, although they relocated to Brighton earlier this year and have garnered support for their debut EP ‘Amateurs’ from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Kerrang, Amazing Radio and Radio X.
If you managed to catch Sick Joy at Think Tank? Underground on Tuesday 16th of October, you’ll certainly know that this is a band worth keeping an eye on in 2018.
