Sometimes the universe simply delivers. A song finds its place at exactly the right moment and in exactly the right setting. For North East country-rock duo Smith & Liddle, that moment arrived while writing their forthcoming album in Nashville.
‘You’re Mine Tonight’, a deep cut from Pure Prairie League, kept finding its way into the ears of Elizabeth Liddle and Billy Smith throughout the writing process. The more they heard it, the harder it became to ignore. So, when the opportunity arose to record a cover version, there was really only one choice.
What makes this release particularly special is the balance Smith & Liddle strike between respect and reinvention. Remaining faithful to the spirit of the original, they add their own warmth and character, with their trademark harmony vocals wrapping effortlessly around the melody. It feels both familiar and refreshingly new.
