Hold fast to your funny bones – comedy fans in Yarm are in for a treat this autumn as Ed Byrne tops the bill at the next Ripping Yarms Comedy Club. On Saturday 23rd November, the Friarage Theatre at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium will swap drama for laughter in a night packed with razor-sharp jokes, big personalities, and plenty of surprises.
Ed Byrne hardly needs an introduction. A familiar face from ‘Mock the Week’ and ‘Have I Got News for You’, he has been touring the UK for decades with his trademark blend of wry observations and effortless Irish charm. Few comedians can attract such a broad mix of fans, and Byrne’s ability to find comedy in the everyday makes him just as funny now as when he first burst onto the circuit.
Keeping the night running smoothly is Gbemi Oladipo, who takes the mic as MC. A fresh talent making waves on the comedy scene, Gbemi is known for his smooth delivery and clever storytelling. His comedy often mixes personal anecdotes with a cheeky, insightful perspective, giving audiences a glimpse into why he’s being tipped as one of the UK’s most promising up-and-comers.
The stellar line-up continues with Ian Stone, a veteran stand-up renowned for his quick wit and topical punchlines. Named by The Independent as one of Britain’s top comics, Stone has a unique talent for transforming the news of the day into punchy, laugh-out-loud material – perfect for those who like their comedy with a satirical bite.
Rounding off the evening is Sarah Keyworth, an award-winning comic whose honest and sharply observed material has earned critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival and beyond. With a dry sense of humour and a gift for tackling themes like identity, gender, and relationships, Keyworth brings both heart and hilarity to the stage.
Over the years, Ripping Yarms has built a reputation as a standout night on the Teesside comedy calendar, combining household names with exciting new voices. With Ed Byrne leading a top-class line-up, this is sure to be an unforgettable evening of live comedy.
