Stellar Projects are the producers of creative projects and imaginative events in Teesside and the North East. The company combine the knowledge and creativity of Lyndsey Stephenson and Rachel Willis who have a passion for creating amazing collective experiences and those ‘you just had to be there’ moments.
Speaking about their journey, Lyndsey explained: “We spent 10 years working together on other people’s large events and festivals but neither of us are very good at doing what we are told (haha!) so we set up Stellar Projects to give us the freedom to do our own thing and we haven’t looked back.”
Lyndsey and Rachel started their careers volunteering on Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF) in their teens not knowing, years later, that they would end up working together.
Rachel added: “My background was as a community artist working on carnivals and community events and I moved into event management somewhere along the way.” And Lyndsey explained her background: “I worked for the BFI in London, then community arts. I was the Event Coordinator at the Millennium Dome and Street Arts Officer at Arts Council before moving back to the North East.
After the struggle that was 2020, Stellar Projects are back on Sunday 12th September with Make & Mend Festival at Ormesby Hall in Middlesbrough; a day of craft, colour, creativity and making that is good for the soul in a festival atmosphere. It includes a maker’s market, artist exhibitions and different workshops to try! And more details can be found at makemendfestival.co.
Lyndsey and Rachel will also bring Nightfall back to Stewart’s park between the 2nd and 5th December. Nightfall is Stellar Projects’ annual light trail event which, this year, will bring colour and joy back into your lives with a Stellar Rainbow theme. This family-friendly event consists of an illuminated route of beautiful artworks around the park before arriving at the finale area for live music, street food, performance and more. More details can be found at nightfallfestival.co.uk.
The Stellar Projects team are known for creating something different, colour, fun and full of magic. Speaking about what to expect from a Stellar Projects event, Rachel added: “We look for the best artists, creatives, performers, freelancers and technicians to work with. We are passionate about every event detail and we hope that comes across. And we want people to experience amazing events in Teesside – why should they have to travel elsewhere?”
