Stockton town centre is set for a weekend of sci-fi, fantasy and cosplay fun as KAPOW returns to Stockton Globe on Sunday 5th July. Delivered in partnership with Who-Ray, the free family festival has become one of the North East’s most popular pop culture events, bringing together fans of all ages for a day dedicated to creativity, imagination and fandom.
Visitors will have the chance to meet iconic characters, explore themed props and immerse themselves in experiences inspired by some of sci-fi and fantasy’s most beloved worlds. Daleks, Cybermen and The Curator’s TARDIS will all be making appearances throughout the day, while roaming performers and fantasy favourites such as Derek the Dragon are expected to entertain crowds across the town centre.
Cosplay will once again play a major role in the event, with fans encouraged to dress as their favourite heroes and villains before taking part in the ever-popular cosplay competition. Across Stockton Globe and sister venue The LINK, visitors can enjoy a packed programme of activities, including a Geek Quiz, a town-centre treasure hunt and a creative writing workshop hosted by local sci-fi author Gillie Hatton, creator of the Thieves’ Guild series.
A dedicated quiet area will also return for 2026, helping to ensure the event remains welcoming, inclusive and accessible for everyone attending. Organisers are expecting another strong turnout as KAPOW continues to grow year on year, attracting visitors from across the region to celebrate fandom, film, gaming and fantasy in the heart of Stockton.
