Newcastle Fringe Festival will be taking place this summer to live audiences in the North East’s capital.
From 27th July – 7th August, Newcastle will host a jam-packed two weeks of theatre, comedy and music as the festival brings the best UK touring work to Newcastle for North East audiences to enjoy.
Newcastle Fringe Festival, which is supported by Arts Council England and the Community Foundation, will be taking place at the award-winning Alphabetti Theatre, where artists from across the UK will be presenting work on the stage and online across two weeks of programming.
The festival has something for everyone in the line-up, with all shows in the programme being live streamed to online audiences as well as performed to live audiences at Alphabetti Theatre, with all tickets being Pay What You Feel.
The team behind the festival added: “At the heart of this festival and at Alphabetti Theatre, we believe that great art is for everyone regardless of financial circumstance. We have been running Pay What You Feel tickets for years and are delighted to make the entire festival a Pay What You Feel event.”
The festival team, made up of North East-based freelancers, have said there is much more than just performances happening at this year’s festival. Alongside the two-week performance programme runs “Invigorate,” a strand of workshops, talks and paid opportunities for local artists and audiences to take part.
The festival producer, Kerrin Tatman, who also runs Newcastle Puppetry Festival, said that Newcastle Fringe Festival is an opportunity for artists to meet, collaborate and have open conversations with each other about how to learn and develop after an incredible tough year for the theatre industry.
Kerrin added: “Invigorate gives artists and creatives from different backgrounds the opportunity to have conversations with industry professionals and develop skills in all areas of theatre. We’re running workshops and talks on financial support, producing models and new ways of collaboration in the North, to give artists and freelancers support as we start to reimagine and rebuild.”
