It’s that time of year again, when we see our High Street start to glow with light-up snowflakes and reindeer. It’s a reminder that Santa is coming to visit again soon.
Start your Christmas season by welcoming in the festive spirit in the heart of Stockton at the Stockton Sparkles event. Whether this is part of your annual traditions or you’ve never been before, the highly-anticipated event is one not to miss.
The town’s Christmas Markets will welcome stores both provided by local companies and those further afield. The markets will run for the full duration of the Stockton Sparkles event, offering a variety of festive goods, from candles to decorations to festive treats; who can deny themselves a gingerbread cookie with a hot chocolate? And just think about that smell of cinnamon, the warmth of a hot toddy and the joy of a new handmade ornament for your Christmas tree.
Following on from the delight brought to the High Street by the markets, there will also be the annual light switch-on and lantern show which is a tradition of this beautiful Northern town.
From the 23rd to the 26th November, the Victorian markets will also be making a return, where you will get the opportunity to ride the 50-feet Ferris wheel and carousel for free while listening to Christmas tunes and eating all of your favourite festive treats.
Last year we saw wreath-making workshops and a parade led by Santa and his elves, which makes us wonder what magical entertainment for all the family will be provided this year? One thing that is guaranteed is a family-friendly start to the holiday period will be provided to at least the same amazing quality that it is every year and is certainly a good way to entertain the little ones on the run-up to the big man’s visit.
Personally, I would recommend attending as much of this festival as you can. The opening night will play out the absolute tune that is ‘Sparkle and Shine’, adding to the annual traditions. The Christmas markets are such an amazing collection of local businesses coming together to provide some festive goods, and the lantern parade is a personal favourite for providing that warm, festive feeling we all crave around this time of year.
