‘Northern Invasion’ is a cross-section of photographic images from the uncountable hours over the last year that North East photographer Scott Read has spent with up-and-coming musicians, capturing those special moments in music at differing stages of careers in vastly different sized venues.
A plethora of amazing bands and singers have been on board, whose dedication to their own creative pursuit and journey is nothing short of inspiring, and if it wasn’t for them allowing Scott to stick his camera in their faces as they do their thing, the local music scene would not be getting the just attention it deserves.
Scott has presented a snapshot of a thriving local music scene, with a special mention to the music venues across the North East that have rapidly become a second home for both the musicians and Scott.
This body of work culminates with an exhibition at the Arts Centre in Washington. Opening with a launch event on Saturday 18th May and running for a month, the exhibition will present carefully selected pieces from this project, being exhibited for the first time, with the displayed photographs available for sale as strictly limited editions.
If anyone would like to attend the launch party, there are limited spaces for this invite-only event where you will get an advance preview of the work, enjoy some live music from band Fires of Freya –who will play an acoustic set – and the obligatory drinks & nibbles.
Please email any interest in attending to scottreadphotography@outlook.com.
