Eliot Smith Dance makes a much-anticipated return to Alnwick Playhouse on Remembrance Sunday (9th November), with a bold reimagining of ‘POPPY’ – a powerful and moving reflection on war, conflict, love, and sacrifice.
First premiered in 2018, ‘POPPY’ has been newly re-envisioned for the company’s autumn 2025 and spring 2026 season. This latest version features an original score by multi-award-winning composer Adam Johnson and showcases five exceptional dancers in a visually arresting performance, combining contemporary movement with poignant storytelling.
Presented at a time when global conflicts continue, and as the UK commemorates 80 years since Victory in Europe (VE) Day, ‘POPPY’ offers a moving tribute to remembrance, resilience, and the enduring human cost of war. Its choreography highlights both the collective and individual experiences of those affected, inviting audiences to reflect on the sacrifices made in times of conflict.
