The Further Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan – The Return of Captain Hook is not a retelling of the classic story but a brand-new, high-flying extension of the Peter Pan universe. This fresh adventure brings audiences back to the enchanted island, now in chaos as Captain Hook rises from his watery grave seeking revenge. With Peter Pan in danger, Tinker Bell must travel to modern-day London to persuade Wendy’s granddaughter to return to Neverland and help save the day. It’s an inventive premise that gives the show room for new jokes, new characters, and a whole lot of mayhem.
The cast is a major highlight, with Michelle Heaton sparkling as a feisty Tinker Bell, Connor McIntyre relishing every villainous moment as Captain Hook, Jessie Williams shining as Angela Darling, and Ben-Ryan Davies bringing energy and charm as Peter Pan. #Cracking Liam Mellor as Smee and resident dame Robert Squire as Mrs Hook keep the comedy flowing nonstop – and it’s Mrs Hook who steals several scenes. Her trousers-on-backwards mishap, resulting in an unintentionally displayed “front bum,” had the entire audience howling. It was gloriously silly and exactly the sort of cheeky humour panto does best.
The show is also packed with unexpected delights, including a brilliantly bonkers Baywatch and K-pop mash-up. The combination of slow-motion lifeguard running and high-energy dance moves was hilarious, creative, and one of the evening’s standout moments.
Even the occasional forgotten line only added to the fun, with the cast embracing every slip-up and turning them into shared jokes that brought the audience even closer into the action.
With stunning sets, impressive flying effects, vibrant costumes and endlessly enthusiastic performances, this new chapter in the Peter Pan saga is a joyful, laughter-filled treat for all ages. A magical festive must-see.
