Social media and online dating have become increasingly popular, but pitfalls are always entwined in these worlds.
This hard-hitting play delves into the traps of online dating and examines the rising cases of domestic violence in older people.
This play is written by Alison Stanley, a freelance writer, actor, public speaker and creative director. As a playwright, she has written three full-length plays including ‘Hard’, ‘Bed Socks & Secrets’, and ‘The Life of Reilly’. She aims to use the arts to promote social change and widen the accessibility of performing arts to everyone, regardless of class.
She has meticulously researched domestic abuse and controlling relationships, taking information from Northumberland domestic abuse services, Age Well Northumberland and individuals’ experiences to produce a play that is touching and thought-provoking.
The two main characters in the play, Viv and Bill, chat online, eventually leading them to meet up. This leads to a gradually abusive relationship and draws attention to the fact that abuse is an issue in society that is not restricted by age.
